Sanarchy is a multinational, digital community of like-minded artist-educators building a system of support, resources, and opportunities for artist-practitioners and scholars working in the arts and education. Operating cooperatively, Sanarchy seeks to generate and foster tomorrows’ art through community as a creative force. The name Sanarchy is built from the Quenya word sanar meaning mind, thinker, reflector. It is also a play on the Turkish word sanat (meaning art), synergy, and anarchy.
The collective developed in 2020 and includes a range of schools, fields of studies, and levels of instruction. Sanarchy began with an intercollegiate theme-teaching endeavor, selecting bi-yearly themes and arranging student exhibitions and screenings for the resulting work.
During the summer of 2024, Sanarchy launched its first mobile residency which was hosted at UNC Greensboro in the Greensboro Project Space Gallery.
In 2026 Sanarchy began the Entangled Circle Initiative, focusing on transdisciplinary projects connecting architecture to the arts and immersive production with cultural heritage, coalescing around conservation, digitization, and reconfiguration, and reimagination. https://sanarchy.art/
